Create Outlines-Useful for breaking font into pieces and re-arranging it
How to use it: Click on the font you want to "break" right click and select CREATE OUTLINES
Eraser Tool-Allows you to slice text. Hold Down shift if you want to draw a straight line with the eraser
The character panel-Allows you to make changes to the way your letters fit together
How to use it: Can be found in Window > Type > Characters
Tracking-this button in the character panel allows you to change the spacing between all of your letters. To use the tracking tool simply select the word you want to space with the selection tool(black arrow or V). Click the tracking button which is in the character panel either up to make the spacing tighter or down to make it looser. Hold down shift while clicking if you want to make more dramatic changes.
Kerning-This button in character panel allows you to change the spacing between 2 specific letters. To Use kerning you need to select the Type tool and put the cursor between the two letters you want to create space between(kern). Click the kerning button which is in the character panel either up to make the spacing tighter or down to make it looser. Hold down shift while clicking if you want to make more dramatic changes.
Rulers-allows you to align and place your text and other objects neatly on the artboard
How to use it: View> Show Rulers (Ctrl+R)
Eyedropper-Allows you to eyedrop any font and copy that font to your selected object
